Regina Miranda
Born and raised in Brazil, this renowned artist, whose career encompasses dance/choreography, playrighting and theater direction, has been living and working in NYC and Rio de Janeiro since 1999. Regina is a LIMS Certified Movement Analyst (1975), with specialization in Bartenieff Fundamentals with Irmgard Bartenieff. Initially, she was trained in Ballet by Tatiana Leskova, Klauss and Angel Vianna, and in Contemporary Dance with Key Takey, Sankay Juku, and Anna Sokolow, at the Juilliard School, with whom she also studied choreography. Regina is the founder and Director/Choreographer of the ActorsDancers of Rio de Janeiro, one of the leading contemporary dance companies of Brazil, to which she created refined stage works and site specific performance installations. The company toured across Brazil, and internationally to France, Japan, Germany, Venezuela and United States. Regina is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Brazilian National Foundation for the Arts (1985), the Saitama International Choreographic Award (1994) and the State of Rio de Janeiro Award (1996). As an active leader in the arts community of Brazil, she created in 1990 the “Contemporary Dance Forum”, in 1994 the "Festival of Latin-American Dance" (1994), and coordinated the “ Encontro Laban 2002”. In NYC, she created and coordinates the annual LIMS performance series, Mosaic and the Performance Atelier. She has also been dedicated to spreading Laban’s theories worldwide through lectures, workshops, articles and books. She is the author of “Expressive Movement”(1980) and “Body-Space Connections™” (Vitae Scholarship - to be published in 2006). Currently, Regina Miranda is the Director of the Laban/Bartenieff Institute – NYC, and Artistic Director of the Rio de Janeiro Choreographic Centre.

Regina Miranda sa narodila a vyrástla v Brazílii. Od roku 1999 žije v New Yorku a Rio de Janeiro. Regina je významnou umelkyňou, ktorá sa venuje tancu a choreografii a je tiež autorkou a režisérkou. Je certifikovanou pohybovou analytičkou podľa LIMS (1975), pričom sa špecializuje na Bartenieffovej Základy pod vedením Irmgard Bartenieff. Regina je zakladateľkou, riaditeľkou a choreografkou jednej z najvýznamnejších skupín súčasného tanca v Brazílii ActorsDancers v Rio de Janeiro, pre ktorú tvorí javiskové diela aj site specific performačné inštalácie. Skupina ActorsDancers absolvovala turné v Brazílii ako aj vo Francúzsku, Japonsku, Nemecku, Venezuele a USA. Regina získala množstvo ocenení vrátane ceny Brazílskej národnej nadácie pre umenie (1985), ceny za choreografiu Saitama International Choreographic Award (1994) a cenu štátu Rio de Janeiro (1996). Je aktívnou členkou umeleckej komunity v Brazílii a v roku 1990 založila Contemporary Dance Forum a v roku 1994 Festival latinsko-amerického tanca a koordinovala Encontro Laban v roku 2002. V New Yorku založila a koordinuje každoročnú sériu predstavení LIMS, Mosaic a Performance Atelier. Regina Miranda sa tiež venuje šíreniu Labanových teórií po celom svete prostredníctvom prednášok, článkov a kníh. Je autorkou publikácie Expresívny pohyb (1980) a Body-Space Connections TM (štipendium Vitae – vyjde v roku 2006). V súčasnosti je riaditeľkou Laban/Bartenieff Inštitútu v New Yorku a umeleckou riaditeľkou Choreografického Centra v Rio de Janeiro.
