Urs Dietrich was born in Switzerland and he gained his dance education on Dance department of Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen, Germany in years 1981 – 85. He created his first solo performance Hiob in 1984, one year later he was acknowledged by Kurt Joos Price of the City of Essen. In 1986 he received a scholarship from Nordrhein-Westfälischen Kultusministeriums for the studies in New York. Since 1988 he Works as an independent dancer and choreographer. He created many pieces, on which he collaborated with Susanne Linke, Compagnie for RUHR-ORT, Folkwang-Tanzstudio, Bremer Tanztheater, Hebbel Theater. In 1994, together with Susanne Linke, he became the leading personality of the Bremer Tanztheater Company. He created the performance Every.body for the world exposition Expo 2000. He received many prices for his creation and introduced it on theatre scenes in Europe, Asia, India, North and South America.

Urs Dietrich sa narodil vo Švajčiarsku a tanečné vzdelanie získal v rokoch 1981 – 85 na tanečnom oddelení Folkwang-Hochschule v Essene, v Nemecku. Svoju prvú sólovú choreografiu Hiob vytvoril v roku 1984, o rok neskôr získal Cenu Kurta Joosa mesta Essen. V roku 1986 získal štipendium na štúdium v New Yorku od Nordrhein-Westfälischen Kultusministeriums. Od roku 1988 pôsobí ako nezávislý tanečník a choreograf. Vytvoril množstvo choreografií, na ktorých spolupracoval so Susanne Linke, Compagnie for RUHR-ORT, Folkwang-Tanzstudio, Bremer Tanztheater, Hebbel Theater. Od roku 1994 je spolu so Susanne Linke vedúcou osobnosťou skupiny v Bremer Tanztheater. Pre svetovú výstavu Expo 2000 vytvoril predstavenie Every.body. Za svoju tvorbu získal mnohé ocenenia a predstavil ju na divadelných javiskách Európy, Ázie, Indie, Severnej a Južnej Ameriky.
