Bratislava in Movement
Association (BMA)
|
Bratislava in Movement Association is a non-governmental
organization working in the field of professional development
of contemporary dance in Slovakia, founded in June 2000.
The main activity of BMA is the international festival
of contemporary dance called "Bratislava in Movement".
This festival has been recognized in the greater European
community and has developed into an event with several
different activities.
"Bratislava in Movement" besides presenting
innovative contemporary dance productions initiates,
commissions, and produces dance and multimedia projects
as well as organizes practical workshops and theoretical
conferences. An important aspect of our effort is to
educate general public, enlist the support and participation
of existing cultural institutions and engage the media.
Our past experience has been positive. The high quality
of the work, the festival has presented gained for us
authority and recognition at local, national and international
level.
Besides the festival, we are active in the field of
education by organizing workshops with foreign teachers
for professional dancers. We have developed the basis
of an information center and we started an active policy
towards development of dance criticism in Slovakia.

in Bratislava, The House of Culture Ružinov, Contemporary
Dance Association.
These institutions organizationally and financially
support our activities. This cooperation is founded
on years of good experiences and trust. The significance
of the festival is also affirmed through the support
from the Ministry of Culture of Slovak Republic.
The foreign partners of BMA are: Dance Theatre Workshop,
Danspace Project (New York), Dietheatre, Tanzquartier
(Vienna), MAPA (Amsterdam), Trafo, L1 (Budapest), Mamapapa,
Tanec Praha, Konfrontace (Prague), Toaca (Bucharest),
Red House (Sofia), and others.
BMA is the member of EITM.

Management of Bratislava in Movement Association:

Ing. Mgr. Miroslava Kovářová
– graduated The Economic University in Bratislava, specialization inner trade and The Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, specialization pedagogy of dance. Many years she worked as a teacher and choreographer in Slovak companies of modern dance, in period 1989 – 91 she worked as a ballet master in Slovak national theatre, later as a dance teacher and choreographer in Nová Scéna Theatre. Since 1983 she is in position of dance teacher at the Dance Creation Department and Department of acting at the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. She is regularly teaching abroad (Austria, Czech Republic, Moldavia). As a choreographer, she cooperated with different theatres – Slovak national theatre, Nová Scéna, Astorka – Korzo 90, Theatre of children and youth Trnava, Theatre of Andrej Bagar in Nitra and Slovak Broadcasting Company (STV).
In years 1996 – 2000 Miroslava Kovářová was in the position of the chair of Contemporary Dance Association and since 1997 artistic and executive director of international festival of contemporary dance "Bratislava in Movement". She is a representative of Slovakia in international network Aerowaves, in last years she is actively involved in organization and management of many contemporary dance projects.
– graduated the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava, specialization pedagogy of modern dance. In 1991 – 1997 she worked as an artistic director of Alfa – modern dance company and as a teacher in many dance companies in Slovakia and abroad (Czech Republic, Hungary, Denmark, France). In years 1996 – 2000 she was a member of board of directors and since 1998 a manager of Contemporary Dance Association, since 1997 she is an executive manager of international festival of contemporary dance "Bratislava in Movement". In last years she is actively involved in organization and management of many projects in the field of contemporary dance.
– graduated the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in specialization of theatre science. She took part in many seminars and workshops in Slovakia and abroad in the field of administration of cultural institutions and culture management. As dramaturge she worked in Slovak Broadcasting Company (STV), Slovkoncert, as artistic manager she worked in Istropolis and Nova Scena Theatre. She founded art agency Istroart, which realizes different art projects and since 1998 cooperates also on organization of "Bratislava in Movement" festival.
IIng. Jaroslava Francisciová
– graduated the Economic University in Bratislava. Many years she worked in different institutions and organizations in the field of culture. In 1992 she founded company Artpex, which is organizing exhibitions for different institutions. It is specialized on processing of fine art collections, it provides consultancy in the field of fine arts and restoration services. She cooperates on organization of "Bratislava in Movement" festival since the beginning.
