Voľba / Choice (2003)

Chreografia/Choreography: Russell Maliphant
Hudba/Music: mukul (ambientTV.NET)
Svetelný dizajn/Lighting Design: Michael Hulls

In Choice, Maliphant works for the first time with an expanded ensemble of five dancers taking his exploration of fluidity, dynamics, tensions and counter tensions into new territory. With such diverse influences as yoga, t'ai chi, capoeira and structural integration the movement vocabulary explores notions of weight, gravity and tensile force. Working with his long-term collaborator, lighting designer Michael Hulls, the relationship of light and movement is developed further defining the sculpture of space and the body. The whole is enveloped within a sound scape itself influenced by Asian rhythms and written by the composer mukul (ambientTV.net).
Choice is commissioned by Festival de Danse de Cannes, Dance Umbrella and Laban
