Gerhard Maaß trained at the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam. He has co-operated with Jaime Ortega, Thomas Mauk, Stefan Haan, Jonna Huttunen, Norbert Kliesch and Michael Kellenberger. Since 1997 he has worked as an independent dancer based in Berlin. Among his choreographies are Amor has grown fat (1999), Trace of Night (2001) and King. Germany (2001). This solo was awarded the 2nd prize in the choreography category at the 5th International Dance Festival in Stuttgart and was commissioned by the Tanzplatform Germany. The duet Old men (2003) premiered at the last year’s Tanztage. In 2004 Maaß received the first prize in the duet category at the International Competition for Contemporary Choreography and Dance Performance in Salzburg.
Michael Kellenberger studied dance and dance pedagogy at the Tanzwerkstatt in Konstanz and at the London Contemporary Dance School. He also studied the Alexander technique for several years. In 2000 he won a DanceWEB scholarship for Tanzwochen in Vienna. He collaborated among others with Off-Off-Theater Tanzkompanie (Konstanz), Nada Kokotovic, Alias Kompanie, Manfred Kröll and Stefan Hahn. For his Compagnie OutImplosion Kellenberger created the piece Decostruction of a fanatic in 2003.
In 2001 he danced for the first time in Gerhard Maaß’ choreography Traces of Night.

The choreography puts two dancers on the stage acting also against each other… Movement comes only slowly. Gerhard Maaß sees his work as a reflection of missing flexibility, affecting everybody every day.
Each move on the stage (including lights and set) embedded in sound, is a delight for the spectator.
